the abandoned house in Xiamen
Recently I started using colored films. These pics are taken from my friend's hometown-Xiamen(in Fujian province,China). In the picture, it is an abandoned villa, located in one of the most expensive district. The reason it was abandoned is that the house is a ghost house, and local people doesn't want to talk about it. When I was trying to search on google, i cannot find any details about this house, that is strange.

Illusion of the world.
These photos are taken by an iphone camera.
Recently, I am interested in taking photos of reflections from the water. By doing so, I explore the fact that visions are often disturbed by the reflections which creates the illusion of the world.
The first photo is taken in a normal angle which the reflection is at the bottom of the photo, while the position is reversed in the second image.

The Photographers Gallery reopens
http://www.photonet.org.uk/
The Photographers Gallery is reopening tomorrow in a new bigger space.
It would be well worth you all going and having a look and becoming familier with the building and also their website.
The Photographers Gallery puts on lots of exhibitions and events. It is always worth checking to see whats coming up as there are often lots of smaller and quite interesting talks, portfolio reviews and other events that run alongside the main exhibitions.

Modes of Vision: Inside Somerset House
These two pictures were taken with an iPhone camera in Somerset House. The first one represents the public side of the building, while the second one – a private space. On 26-29 of April I happened to have an opportunity to work in a highly commercial World Photography Festival which was held in Somerset House. I got the impression that photography in the context of the festival was promoted strictly as a commercial and industrial media. Having Shutterstock as one of the main partners in the festival, lectures were given on how to sell your pictures better, what are the most market-friendly themes, etc. Ironically, even after being disappointed of the narrow commercial context of the event, I was caught by the sight of the stairs which I have turned into an iconic, market-friendly image. The second one, though, speaks about the same place in a completely different visual language.
FIRST TASK
Hello everyone-
Sorry it's taken me a while to get this blog online.
You should all have a digital camera of some sort. Your first task is to upload a photo you have taken in the last week. Doesn't matter what it's of (might help if its funny or interesting or shocking!) Then I want you all to comment on each others pictures.
This is so you can all become familiar with uploading pictures and how to make and read comments.
More soon.
